Spreading over 130 hectares of recovering forest in Mashpi-Pachijal and going up to 1700 meters above sea level, the Amagusa Reserve is inhabited by some of the most astonishing birds in the region like the Glistening-Green Tanager, the Indigo Flowerpiercer and the Black Solitaire. But be aware, the latter can only be seen during the months of August and September when they feast on the ripe fruits of the Motilon tree (Hieronyma alchorneoides). However, all year round you can visit the beautiful hummingbird garden which is home to the Empress Brilliant, Velvet-Purple Coronet, Brown Inca and many, many more. Don’t worry, if the weather is bad you are still able to comfortably watch them from a shelter.
The current owners of the Reserve, Sergio and his wife Doris, are not only very knowledgeable about all of their inhabitants they also aim to protect their environment through their eco-tourism program. The area has already become a protected forest of Masphi-Guaycuaycu-Sahuangal where logging prohibited and Sergio and Doris are going even a step further, as they have registered their property to become an official reserve.
Whether you are a bird watching enthusiasts, a photographer aiming to get the best shot of one of the birds or just somebody who enjoys being in nature and surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna, the Amagusa Reserve is definitely worth a visit. They are waiting for you!

Extendiéndose sobre 130 hectáreas de bosque en recuperación en Mashpi-Pachijal y subiendo hasta 1700 metros sobre el nivel del mar, la Reserva Amagusa está habitada por algunas de las aves más asombrosas de la región como la Tangara Verde Brillante, el Picaflores Índigo y el Solitario Negro. . Pero tenga en cuenta que estos últimos solo se pueden ver durante los meses de agosto y septiembre, cuando se deleitan con los frutos maduros del árbol Motilon (Hieronyma alchorneoides). Sin embargo, durante todo el año se puede visitar el hermoso jardín de colibríes que es el hogar de la Emperatriz Brilliant, Velvet-Purple Coronet, Brown Inca y muchos, muchos más. El área ya se ha convertido en un bosque protegido de Masphi-Guaycuaycu-Sahuangal donde la tala prohibida y Sergio y Doris van incluso un paso más allá, ya que han registrado su propiedad para convertirse en reserva oficial.
